The core of routine maintenance for drone batteries (typically Lithium Polymer, or LiPo) lies in carefully managing usage conditions, regulating charging and discharging processes, and ensuring proper storage management; these practices directly impact both battery lifespan and flight safety.

 

It is essential to use a compatible balance charger to ensure that the voltage across all individual cells remains consistent, thereby preventing overcharging or over-discharging of any single cell. Charging should ideally be conducted at room temperature; avoid charging the battery immediately after use while it retains residual heat, or in high-temperature environments. Furthermore, it is not recommended to store the battery at full charge for extended periods; once fully charged, it should be used as soon as possible.

 

Deep discharge must be avoided; generally, it is recommended to return to base promptly when the remaining battery capacity drops to between 20% and 30%. This practice helps minimize internal structural damage to the battery. Additionally, avoid subjecting the battery to frequent high-current output-such as during prolonged rapid acceleration or overloaded flight-as high-rate discharging accelerates battery aging and may lead to voltage instability. Whether storing the battery for a short or long term, it should be maintained at a "storage voltage" level (approximately 50% to 60% capacity) and kept in a cool, dry environment away from direct light. Avoid exposing the battery to extreme conditions involving high heat, high humidity, or freezing temperatures. It is recommended to check the battery's voltage status every 1 to 2 months and top up the charge as necessary.
