Common battery models for electric two-wheelers primarily fall into three voltage categories: 48V, 60V, and 72V. Each model offers distinct differences in terms of range and power output. 48V batteries are typically found in lightweight electric vehicles; being lighter in weight, they consume less energy during daily commutes and are well-suited for short-distance riding. 60V batteries strike an excellent balance between power and range, making them one of the most common configurations currently available on the market. 72V batteries are generally reserved for high-power models; offering superior hill-climbing capabilities and acceleration performance, they are ideal for long-distance travel or for users with heavy-load requirements.

 

In addition to voltage, electric two-wheeler batteries are also differentiated by their capacity-measured in Amp-hours (Ah)-with common examples including 20Ah, 32Ah, and 45Ah. Generally, a higher capacity translates to a longer vehicle range; however, this also results in increased battery weight and cost. The two main types of batteries currently dominating the market are lead-acid batteries and lithium-ion batteries. Lead-acid batteries are relatively inexpensive and entail lower maintenance costs, whereas lithium-ion batteries offer distinct advantages such as lighter weight, longer lifespan, and higher charging efficiency, making them increasingly popular among consumers.
