Batteries for electric tricycles can be primarily categorized based on three criteria: battery type, voltage level, and intended application. Each classification method corresponds to distinct differences in performance characteristics and practical utility.

 

In terms of battery type, electric tricycle batteries fall into two major categories: lead-acid batteries and lithium-ion batteries. Lead-acid batteries feature a mature structural design, lower manufacturing costs, and relatively simple maintenance; however, they are heavier and offer only moderate range capabilities, making them a common choice for budget-friendly or basic cargo models. Lithium-ion batteries, conversely, boast advantages such as high energy density, lighter weight, and a longer cycle life. They are better suited for models with higher demands for range and performance-particularly those utilized in logistics distribution and long-distance transport operations.

 

Regarding voltage levels, common electric tricycle batteries typically come in 48V, 60V, 72V, or even higher specifications. Generally, a higher voltage indicates greater power output capability for the vehicle, making it suitable for heavier loads or more challenging road conditions. For instance, 60V systems are frequently employed in standard cargo models, whereas 72V systems and above are more commonly found in heavy-duty or commercial transport vehicles.

 

Based on intended application, batteries can also be classified into domestic-use and commercial-use types. Domestic-use batteries prioritize cost-effectiveness and basic range requirements, while commercial-use batteries emphasize durability, stability, and the capacity for sustained, continuous discharge over extended periods. The design of each battery type is specifically optimized to suit its actual operating conditions, thereby ensuring that the diverse usage requirements of electric tricycles are effectively met.
